H-E-B Grocery just completed its nearly year long renovations of their Nogalitos Market location. The Nogalitos store is H-E-B’s oldest location, serving the neighborhood for over 70 years. Initially planning on tearing down the entire sotre, in honor of the history of the store, the original façade was preserved as part of the renovations.
The new store has a first floor parking garage with the store above, making it the first multi level grocery in the state of Texas. A ‘travelator” is used to take shoppers and their carts to the second level market. The store almost tripled in size, now 62,000 square feet, with a new pharmacy, expanded meat, seafood, beer and wine section and an increase in organic produce available. Additionally, an all new deli, bakery, and expanded floral department round out the stores new features.
As part of the extended grand opening celebration, over the next month, the store will project a visual art installation by local artist Vincent Valdez onto a wall outside the store every evening. The collection features vintage films that have captured images throughout the city of San Antonio from 1947 through 1984.
