Port San Antonio Green-lights $20M Office Complex

April 20, 2017 by Bexar Witness Staff

On the Southwest Side, Port San Antonio is proceeding with the development of a $20 million technology industry office complex. Port officials envision high-tech companies, especially those focused on cybersecurity, moving into the 90,000-square-foot building. The Air Force base-turned-business/industrial park plans to add a total of 5,000 new jobs by 2020 with this move, according to the San Antonio Business Journal. Port San Antonio is presently home to numerous private-sector and federal/military agencies concentrating on cybersecurity and other high technologies. But there’s room to grow more businesses within the inland port.

According to the Business Journal, Port San Antonio has plans for five other structures for its tech industry area, which could result in a total of 500,000 square feet of new office space over 17 acres. The San Antonio City Council, earlier in April, approved $1.5 million in funding to improve infrastructure at the new construction site.

Local company Beaty Palmer Architects led the design for the new structure, which will be constructed by the local firm SpawGlass Contractors. The San Antonio office of Peloton Commercial Real Estate will lead efforts to recruit relevant companies and organizations to the new campus.
