PROJECT UPDATE: Peanut Factory Lofts

July 2, 2014 by Taylor Allen

The Peanut Factory Lofts are currently under construction.  210 Development Group is redeveloping the former Birdsong Peanut Factory into a multifamily complex.  The factory opened in 1912 and shut down in the 1980’s.

The original silos are being transformed into loft units.  In addition to the lofts, new construction includes flats, three story units with individual garages, and garden style walk up apartments.

The site, less than a half-mile from UTSA’s Downtown Campus, will have units dedicated for student housing.  Not only is the addition of The Peanut Factory more downtown residential space, but much needed student housing as well.  The City commissioned a student housing report in 2012 that determined a need for 400-600 units for the UTSA Downtown Campus over the next 10 years.
