Although The Pearl has established itself as a food centric destination with restaurants and food events garnering national attention, there is more food-focused development in store for 2015. Southerleigh Fine Food & Brewery has been working on restoring the original Pearl Brewery building.
Southerleigh, which expects to be open next month, will be one of the largest brewpubs in the nation. The brewpub, which will be integrated with Hotel Emma, will feature 15 barrels, 6 serving tanks, and a variety of wood barrels for aging. An original grain silo is being transformed into a private dining room for special events.
Pearl developers Silver Ventures is in the process of stabilizing the Liberty Bar. The process began at the end of 2014 using a series of tightening cables to make the historic building structurally sound. The building has been lifted off of its peir and beam foundation for stabilization. Preliminary plans are for the building to be re-developed into a restaurant. Most recently, Minnie’s Tavern & Rye House occupied the Liberty Bar.
